The Presbyterian Church in the Republic of Korea began its 99th regular general assembly on September 23 at Byeonsan Daemyeong Resort in Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do, and elected Rev. Hwang Yong-dae (Seongsam Church) as moderator and Rev. Choi Bu-ok (Yangmuri Church) as vice-moderator. The GA will continue until the 26th, with 800 representatives (pastors and elders) from 25 presbyteries. This year’s PROK GA theme is “A Church of Repentance Before God and the World.” Like last year, this year’s PROK GA will consider several proposals to reinforce the social responsibility of the church in the fields of environment and gender equality. The PROK Institute of Ministry and Theology also has requested reinforcement of educational programs about heretical and pseudo religious groups.
