A service commemorating 130 years of Korean Christian mission was held on November 22 at the grand chapel of the Korea Church Centennial Building on Daehak-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul. Throughout the service, organized by the Communion of Churches in Korea (CCIK), the Christian Council of Korea (CCK)’s Executive Director Rev. Lee Young Hoon and CCIK Executive Director Rev. Han Yeong-hun demonstrated their good relationship. The positive communication between the two leaders was analyzed as a harbinger of future reunion by the two organizations. For the first time since the split in 2011, the heads of the two organizations were seen holding hands.

Approximately 2,000 participants prayed for the peace and reunification of Korea and the Korean people, for revival of the Korean church, and for the evangelization of many countries. CCIK also published a five-item statement on this day, announcing, “We, indebted to the Gospel, will concentrate all our earnest passion for mission into living the life of Gospel workers through service and calling for the integration and union of the Korean church.”
