Stay and Explore Historic Korean Christian Churches

The Korean church circles are soon initiating a PCH (“people curing home”), a program similar to temple stays of Buddhism. The Korean church, with a cooperation of the government, will promote churches that are 100 years and older and develop various activities to experience Christianity.

On January 19, the Korean Christian Culture and Heritage Preservation Association held its launching service (photo) at the National Assembly Members Building in Yeouido, Seoul. The service also included a briefing session on the Association's plans and programs. The Association was approved by the Cultural Heritage Administration in July, 2014, and plans to collect, preserve, and pass down cultural assets of the 130-year Korean Christian mission.

The Association’s board chair Rev. Han Gi-mun said in his greeting message, “Last year the Korean Buddhist circles received 313 times more in government subsidies for preservation of religious assets than Protestant Christian circles. (See the related article linked below.) I think the discrimination was too much… Many have helped and struggled until this Association is established. We’ll now secure financial resources and focus on protecting and passing down of cultural heritage of Christianity.”
