[New Year’s Holidays] Rice Dumpling Soup Party at JSA for Korean and American Soldiers

On February 20, the Nara Sarang Supporters Group (president: Rev. Choi Seong-gyu), formed mostly by Christians, served rice dumpling soup to soldiers of Korea and the United States (photo) at the Panmunjeom guard battalion in the Joint Security Area (JSA) in Gyeonggi-do. This was to celebrate New Year’s holidays with the soldiers who are serving at the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), to boost their spirits, and to wish for peaceful reunification together.

The Joshua Morning Prayer Group and the Caleb Prayer Group sponsored the party, and Christian North Korean defectors prepared a special rice dumpling soup, “Gamja Ogeurang Ddeokguk,” in North Korean style with potatoes, pumpkins, and eggs.

The rice dumpling soup party became more meaningful as participants shared their faith witnesses. Then they sang songs of praise and reunification. Elder Kim Il-do of Sarang Community Church said, “Hearts of Nara Sarang (love for one’s nation) are the foundation for the Korean church’s revival.”
