Kukmin Daily and C Channel together held an urgent discussion titled “Homosexuality, Stop!” (photo) on August 20 at the headquarters of C Channel on Yangjae-daero in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, to analyze the social damage caused by homosexuality and to search for alternatives.

The discussion participants were Rev. So Gang-seok (Executive Director, The Korean Church Countermeasures Committee Against Homosexuality), Rev. Kim Seong-ro (Chuncheon Hanmaum Church), Lee Yong-hui (Representative, Esther Prayer Movement), and Attorney Jeong Seon-mi (Law Firm Lawhas). They criticized the fabricated strategies used by homosexuals, such as “sexual minority” and “human rights,” and emphasized the pressing need to prevent legalization of same-sex marriage and legislation of the anti-discrimination law.

Rev. So said, “The concept of ‘God-given human rights’ in the past has guaranteed human worth and dignity, and enabled the emancipation of slaves and the independence movement. Recent human rights movements, however, are abusing the idea of God-given human rights to fulfill their sexual desires… In fact, homosexuals consider those who oppose them as ignorant persons who violate human rights and oppress homosexuals.”

He continued, “It is said that sexual minorities, as part of society, need to be protected and respected; but homosexuality is a matter of human desire, not an issue of human rights… Homosexuality is a serious social problem that harms other people, just like smoking, drugs, and drunk driving.”

Lee explained, “Most of the new AIDS patients are male homosexuals, and the national budget pays out 60 million won annually per patient, plus caregiver costs… Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon said that homosexuality is a matter of differences, not of right or wrong. But homosexuality will be a ‘tax money bomb’ and therefore is an issue of public interest, directly related to the future of Korea… Kukmin Daily’s special series on homosexuality provided very helpful statistics and scientific information. Believers should spread the Kukmin Daily articles through SNS and other means.”

Rev. Kim added his criticism: “School textbooks include homosexuality-supporting contents, and now the National Human Rights Commission of Korea has created broadcasting guidelines banning the linkage of homosexuality with AIDS.”

Attorney Jeong advised, “On the current legal battleground over homosexuality, it is time for Christians in the legal profession to act preemptively and organize a legislative movement to prevent the passing of the anti-discrimination bill.”
