“Peace” was the focus of discussion at the Seoul Theological University - Heidelberg University International Symposium, being held at Seoul Theological University (STU) on November 13. STU President Yu Seok-seong (speaker in photo), in his keynote lecture on “An Jung-geun’s East Asian Peace Theory,” said, “Japan’s admission, reflection, apology and compensation for its past aggression is prerequisite for East Asian peace.”

In another keynote lecture, Prof. Dr. Michael Welker, professor emeritus of Heidelberg University, explained the “peace theory” of Immanuel Kant, based on Kant’s book “Perpetual Peace” (1795).

Lecturer Choi Sang-yong (professor emeritus of Korea University), a former Korean ambassador to Japan, spoke on “East Asian Peace and Korea-China-Japan Cooperation.”

And in his lecture titled “Research on the Inner Development Logic of the Davidic Tradition in the Old Testament,” Heidelberg Professor Manfred Oeming noted, “David, who was very interested in ritual sacrificial music that was pleasing to God, and in values useful to the song community, was a person with a vision of peace.”
