The Pieora Huimang (Bloom the Hope) Center was established in 2008 by Yumkwang Church (Rev. Hwang Seong-eun) in Dobong-gu, Seoul, in order to provide professional care and welfare services to disabled persons. The Center operates a cafe and a bakery. When the reporter visited the cafe on April 12, five employees, all with developmental disabilities, were working the afternoon shift in brown hats and aprons (photo). A signboard in the cafe says, “Slowly But Together, We Build Hope Together.” Here the disabled persons learn social skills and build self-reliance.
