The members of the “South Sudan Sports Leaders Korea Visit Team” pose together with missionary Im Heung-se (far right) for a souvenir photo on April 22, during their visit to the Korea National Sport University in Songpa-gu, Seoul. Im Heung-se (61), vice chair of the South Sudan Olympic Committee, who led the team visit, is the coach of South Sudan’s national soccer team. He played a key role in getting South Sudan admitted as the 206th member country of the International Olympic Committee in July last year. Im said, “Though South Sudan was established as a nation five years ago, it still struggles with the aftereffects of the civil war, so the entrance into IOC entry gave the citizens great hope and pride.” At the 2012 London OIympics, the South Sudan national team had to run with the IOC flag, but at the Olympics in Brazil this August, they will carry their own national flag.
