The scene was festive on August 16 at HamYang Jungheung Church (Rev. Park Yun-je), situated at the foot of Jirisan (Mt. Jiri) in Hamyang-eup, Hamyang-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do.

Fourty-two mission team members from Namdaemun Church in Seoul (Rev. Son Yun-tak) were hosting a “Malbok (last hot day of summer) Village Festival” to which they’d invited 100 some elderly residents of neighboring villages. Since the evening of the 14th, these Namdaemun Church members have been at work as volunteers in the four-day mission program being held at their sister church.

Divided into the three teams of Oriental medicine, beauty care and environment, the volunteers have carried out their roles with devotion. The Oriental medicine team provided moxibustion and other treatments, the beauty care team offered permanents and haircuts, and the environment team replaced old window screens on more than 30 houses. They also painted the exterior walls of Jungheung Church, giving it a new, clean look. And they visited each family, handing out leaflets of Bible texts and spreading the Gospel. On the 14th, lunch was Korean-grown beef barbecue.
