From February 8-9, Sarang Community Church of Seoul held its “Disciples Making Leaders’ Summit 2017” at Evangelical Theological College in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Approximately 1,000 church leaders of the Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church (EKHC) attended the summit, where the core principles of disciples training were introduced.
Sarang Church came all the way to Addis Ababa, 9,200 km distant from Seoul, because of the geopolitical and spiritual uniqueness of Ethiopia. Called “gateway to Africa,” Ethiopia is the location of international agencies including the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). In terms of Christian mission, it is also considered the northern frontline facing Islam.
On February 8, Rev. Oh Jung-hyun lectured to EKHC leaders on disciples training principles in three sessions: Biblical Ecclesiology, Hearts of Shepherds, and Sound Life as a Disciple (top photo).
Rev. Oh emphasized, “The secret to church revival lies in lay leaders who agree with the vision of the pastor… The priority of ministry must be on producing lay disciples who are capable of spiritual reproduction.”
Sarang Church has shared its disciple training contents with the Brazilian Presbyterian Church (2006 General Assembly) and with Three Self churches and home churches in China (2010).
