“I will work for a church that cherishes diversity and balance, knows how to communicate, and maintains its essence as the Anglican Church.”

Bishop Lee Gyeong-ho (58, photo), newly appointed Head of the Seoul Diocese, Anglican Church of Korea, called attention to the “Anglican Church essence.” During a recent conversation with reporters in his office at Seoul Cathedral in Jung-gu, Seoul, following his official inauguration at the end of last month as the sixth head of Seoul Diocese, Bishop Lee said, “The Anglican Church does not absolutize a special dogma or follow a particular theologian…It has continued its tradition of rational faith, mutual recognition and respect, and is maintaining its open, inclusive ‘Anglican church essence.’”

He added, “The Anglican Church of Korea, with its 127-year history, now is greatly concerned about both quantitative growth and qualitative change…My role will be not only to expand church membership, but to safeguard essential Anglican values while searching for ways to materialize God’s gift of peace in this land.”
