Movie “The Children Gone to Poland” (폴란드로 간 아이들, poster), directed by Chu Sang-mi and produced by Connect Pictures, will be previewed on October 22 at the Lotte Cinema World Tower branch in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

The movie, a documentary, shares the special story of 1,500 some war orphans who were sent to Poland from North Korea at the time of the Korean War, and their Polish teachers. The official opening is October 31.

Director Chu Sang-mi (Onnuri Community Church) is an actress well-known for her roles in “The Contact” (접속), “Turning Gate” (생활의 발견), “Everybody Has Secrets” (누구나 비밀은 있다), and other movies. This time, through “The Children Gone to Poland,” Chu is gaining attention as a next-generation woman director.

The movie was invited to the Wide Angle division of the 2018 Busan International Film Festival. Chu said, “The movie deals with a secret true story, almost unknown by our society. We went to Poland and interviewed the teachers. I decided to make this movie in order to share the vivid testimonies and love of the teachers, who still remember the children.”
