On November 1 the annual Daniel Prayer began (photo), with the participation of 10,701 churches in Korea and 390 churches overseas. Pastors from the Presbyterian, Methodist, Holiness, Full Gospel, and Baptist churches take turns leading the gathering. This year, the participants read the prayer title in one voice and prayed together for world mission, for the pastors of their local churches, and for the eradication of heretical groups. They also watched video clips of ministers in challenged situations and took up offerings for them.
Daniel Prayer started in 1998 at Oryun Community Church. Then in 2013, it became a national network, and since 2015 has expanded into an interdenominational prayer gathering. During this 21-day prayer event, it is estimated that more than 400,000 persons daily are joining the prayers on- and off-line.
Rev. Kim Eun-ho of Oryun Church said, “I think this is truly the unity and oneness of the Korean church. The true union referred to in the Bible comes about not through politics but through worship.”
Rev. Kim added, “Wherever the Holy Spirit works, there always is sharing. Last year, with the theme ‘The river of grace will flow through me,’ we collected an offering of love in the amount of one billion won, which flowed to our neighbors. And we plan to do just the same this year.”
The prayers will continue until the 21st.
