2014-10-12 13:57

70 some church and civil organizations including the Citizens’ Association for Right Sexual Culture, the Association of Parents for Chosen People Education, and the Council of Religious Organizations for Korea Love met at the Hangeul Building on Saemunan-no, Jongno-gu, Seoul, on October 7, and held a “Rally to Inaugurate the 1 Million Signatures Campaign for Revision of the National Human Rights Commission Act, Which Promotes Homosexuality.”

In their statement, they declared, “Among the conditions in Article 2, clause 3 of the National Human Rights Commision Act preventing discrimination, the term ‘sexual orientation’ protects homosexuality,” and “because of this article, the country is teaching and promoting homosexuality to young people, which is unacceptable.”

On this day at the same time, 100 some students and youth belonging to the Youth Human Rights Council for Freedom and Life held a press conference in front of the National Human Rights Commission office on Mugyo-ro in Jung-gu, Seoul, demanding revision or abolishment of the “Human Rights News Standards” created in 2011 by the Korea Human Rights Commission (photo). On the basis of the “Human Rights News Standards,” the National Human Rights Commission zeroes in on “anti-human rights news articles” related to the homosexuality issue, for example, by regulating reports that stigmatize homosexuality as a pathology or link it to AIDS.
