The Salvation Army in Korea (Park Jong-deok, Commander) held a ceremony on December 17 marking the opening of the “Salvation Army Crisis Counseling Center” (photo), which will provide telephone consultations with persons suffering on account of family violence, depression or other problems. The telephone number of the center, which will operate 24 hours a day, is “1800-1939.” Anyone who is plagued by violence in the family, feels the impulse to commit suicide, is suffering sexual abuse, or is troubled for various other reasons, may call the center and receive counseling anonymously.
