University student members of CCC in Seoul, Busan and other places around the country have been joining spontaneously in the blood-donation activities since the 18th. They are placing images of themselves giving blood (upper photo) or holding blood donation certificates (lower photo) on social networking service (SNS) sites, attaching the “#CCC blood donation campaign” hashtag, and encouraging friends and schoolmates to take part.
They have also commenced their prayer movement for the afflicted nation. CCC customarily holds its annual summer training program at the end of June, but has postponed that event till the end of August to help slow the spread of MERS, and on June 19 initiated its 40-day “Emergency Prayer Fast Movement to Save the Nation.” CCC groups at 40 some universities are carrying out the prayer movement in rotation, with a different school conducting the fast each day.
“Christians, as disciples who follow the Lord, must confess our own sins first, and then pray for our country and people,” said CCC Representative Park Seong-min. “I expect the CCC students’ blood donation and prayer movement will be like a pump, drawing the participation of many more people.”
