Feed the Children (President and CEO: Kevin Hagan), which provides food support for children in 21 countries around the world, began its activities in Korea on October 15 with a ceremony (photo) at Kensington Hotel in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, marking the foundation of Feed the Children Korea. Participating in the event were Scott Killough, Vice President for Program Development at Feed the Children, various Korean political figures, and other related guests.

Yun Min-yeong, board chairman of Feed the Children Korea, said in his welcoming remarks, “Feed the Children is working endlessly to make a world where no children will suffer from hunger…It will not be easy from the start, but we look forward to a lot of support and encouragement for our activities in Korea, based on the spirit of Christianity and the mind of Jesus.”

In his report, Standing Director Mun Chang-seon said, “The preparatory work in Korea took about three years, and we were granted status as a corporation at the end of last April.” In future, he said, “Feed the Children Korea will support North Korean children with indoor tents and nutritious food, will provide for the education and living needs of children who have entered this country involuntarily, and will support unmarried mothers and abandoned babies and young children.”

Feed the Children, headquartered in Oklahoma, USA, was established in 1979. Last year, the organization sent food assistance to 575,000 North Korean orphans; in future it plans to expand its projects for the North, sending vermifuge and vitamins, and providing clothing and farming support.
