“Dear God, please watch over this country in grief, and caress the wounded souls.”

On the afternoon of June 1, the Korea Church Committee for Recovery from the Sewol Disaster (Chair: Rev. Kim Sam-hwan) held a united prayer gathering at Myungsung Church in Gangdonggu, Seoul, for healing and recovery from the Sewol tragedy. President Park Geun-hye also participated in praying and expressing condolences to the families of the deceased. In her speech she said, “I’m thankful that the Korean churches have come together after the Sewol disaster to console and help the victims and their families in various ways including volunteering, fundraising, and prayer.”

The Committee held an extended meeting last May 22 and resolved to carry out a two-year campaign of care and support for the Sewol victims and their families.
