Shincheonji Stubbornly Attacks Korean Church and Christian Media

2016-03-30 13:30

The pseudo-religious group Shincheonji Church of Jesus the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji; Lee Man-hui, founder) has begun a frontal attack on the Korean church. The cult, having deified its founder Lee Man?hui and preached an end-times eschatology, now seems to feel threatened following revelations of its true character by Kukmin Daily, Christian Broadcasting System (CBS) and other Christian media.

Starting March 28, Shincheonji has been demanding “dissolution of Christian Council of Korea and closure of Christian Broadcasting System.” Its members have set up tables outside the Korean Christian Ecumenical Building in Jongno, Seoul, and in front of CBS’s 12 buildings around the country (photo), with posters reading “Dissolve CCK, Close CBS,” and a petition they urge passersby to sign, as well as an “Appeal” they are distributing widely. The appeal contains the slanderous statement “CCK and CBS have no God and no truth, but only dance wildly to money and curses.” It has been confirmed that Shincheonji made official notice of intent to continue its protests at these sites during the next month, until April 24th.
