156 professors at seven theological colleges belonging to the Presbyterian Church of Korea (PCK Tonghap; Rev. Lee Seong-hui, moderator), including the Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary, announced a declaration on November 10 responding to the urgent national situation. They called upon President Park Geun-hye to resign, and counseled the church to undertake self-reflection.
Leaders of the general assembly of the Korea Baptist Convention, together with professors of the Korea Baptist Theological University and Seminary in Daejeon, also issued a declaration on the current crisis. Yu Gwan-jae, moderator of the Korea Baptist Convention (center) and general assembly leaders met at Sungkwang Baptist Church in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do, on November 10, where they read aloud a prayer on the present situation, then knelt down in prayer for the Korean nation and people.
On November 9, professors of Yonsei University’s College of Theology and its United Graduate School of Theology issued a declaration titled “No one can serve two masters” (Matthew 6:24).
