Rev. Kim Ha-na has been officially installed as the senior pastor of Myungsung Church in Seoul.

On the evening of November 12, Myungsung Presbyterian Church, located on Gucheonmyeon-ro in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, held a combined “Service of Respect for Pastor Emeritus Kim Sam-hwan and Service of Installation for Rev. Kim Ha-na.” Rev. Kim had resigned from New Song Myungsung Church earlier, on the afternoon of that same day.

Speaking to the congregation, Pastor Emer. Kim Sam-hwan said, “While giving thanks for the grace of God, who is always with us, I also thank all of you for being together with me in work, prayer and devotion over the past 38 years.” Pastor Emer. Kim will be leading the 4th worship service on Sundays.

Pastor Emer. Kim directly helped Rev. Kim put on his vestment, and placed his hand on his son’s head to bless him in prayer (photo).

In his message as the new pastor, Rev. Kim said, “I will endeavor to stand with you in righteousness before God, remembering that Myungsung Church was established by many persons’ tears and prayers…Considering that the role of the church in the world is to be a bridge, not an island, I will serve our alienated neighbors, carrying out ministry with whatever resources God grants, in places that give God joy.”

Earlier, an emergency countermeasures committee of the Southeast Seoul Presbytery of Presbyterian Church of Korea Tonghap issued a statement titled “Final Warning To Illegal Officers’ Group,” saying, “In its effort to appoint Rev. Kim Ha-na as senior pastor, Myungsung Church has in the process ignored law and principle, procedure and order, thereby crippling the future of the presbytery …We will definitely ask the current presbytery officers’ group to take responsibility if Rev. Kim’s installation service is forced through.”
