On November 30, Good People and Yoido Full Gospel Church held the “2013 Sharing-Hope Boxing Day” at Cheonggye Plaza in Seoul, where they delivered daily necessities worth approximately 1,800,000,000 won to low-income residents of the city. “Boxing Day” dates back to the Middle Ages, when it was the custom to pack daily necessities such as clothes, grain and tools into boxes and deliver them to poor people on the day after Christmas.

On this day 200 some volunteers and citizens filled 18,000 boxes to deliver to neighbors in need, such as elderly persons living alone, impoverished persons and multicultural families. The boxes contained 19 kinds of daily use goods including dried laver, sesame oil and noodles, provided through the support of the churches, CJ CheilJedang, and Community Chest of Korea.

In addition, the church held a Christmas gift-packing event, at which members prepared 2,013 boxes, each containing 50,000 won worth of daily use goods, for delivery to elderly persons living alone, young persons from broken families, and low-income “differently abled” (handicapped) persons living in Seocho-ku.
