International relief and development NGO Good People (Ahn Jeong-bok, director) has sent milk powder to North Korea, as this year’s first fruit in the “10,000 Won Miracle” campaign to help North Korean children.

On the 27th of January, together with Kyeore Sarang (Yu Gi-nam, director), Good People sent five tons of powdered milk by truck from Dandong, China, to orphanages, nurseries and child care centers in the Hwanghae Namdo region. The milk powder was provided for the more than 7,000 children in these facilities.

Good People reported that children in Hwanghae Namdo were suffering from serious malnutrition due to last year’s recurrent floods, and the non-approval of overseas relief goods imports. The relief organization is collecting donations through its year-round “10,000 Won Miracle” campaign to help North Korean infants and children.

“During the past three years, Good People has carried out our campaign to help starving children in the North,” Director Ahn Jeong-bok said. “We ask for your encouragement and support, so that this campaign can continue to bear beautiful fruits in the future.”

Since 1999, Good People has worked hard delivering humanitarian support to North Korean children, through activities that assist North Korean residents in the diverse sectors of farm restoration, health and medical services, relief and development. In October 2012, its “10,000 Won Miracle” campaign provided milk powder to orphanages in Sariwon region; and in November 2013, it supplied child care centers in Hwanghae Namdo with flour, yeast, milk powder and other ingredients needed for bread production.
