Pope Francis Leaves Great Teachings and Consolation With the Korean People

Pope Francis waves his hand at Seoul Airport in Seongnam on August 18 prior to leaving Korea after his fully packed five-day, four-night schedule (photo). Vatican Apostolic Nuncio to Korea Osvaldo Padilla (left of Pope Francis) and Prime Minister Jeong Hong-won (far left) saw him off at the airport.

Pope Francis gave warmhearted consolation and great teachings to the people of Korea. In particular, he met with the Sewol victims’ families every day during his visit. His actions are expected to press the political circles to move forward rather than continue delaying the passage of the Sewol Special Law in the National Assembly.

Flying over the Western Sea, he sent a telegram to Korea on his way back to Rome, “I invoke divine blessings upon you all as I renew my prayers for peace and well-being on the Korean Peninsula.”
