The Presbyterian Church in Korea - Hapshin opened its 99th General Assembly on September 23 at Ojeong Seonghwa Church in Bucheon, Gyeonggido, and elected Rev. Wu Jong-hyu (photo; Gumi Hwangsang Church) as moderator and Rev. An Man-gil (Seoul Yeomgwang Church) as vice-moderator. At the GA this year, PCK Hapshin will deal with issues including unity with PCK Goshin, improving the conditional minister system, and voluntary payment of the clergy tax. Heated debate, particularly on the issue of uniting with the other denomination, is anticipated because both pro- and con-proposals have been submitted.
