An academic symposium was held on March 16 at Sungkonghoe University in Guro-gu, Seoul, to commemorate the formulation of the general theory of relativity, Albert Einstein (1879∼1955)’s most significant achievement. Titled “The General Theory of Relativity Embraces the Universe,” the University’s Institute for Theological Research and the Theological Research Institute for Science and Ecology held the symposium jointly, to connect the dots between the scientific universe and theology, based on the theory of relativity.
In the photo, Prof. Lee Seok-yeong of the Astronomy Department, Yonsei University, explains how the universe was formed, from the modern astronomical viewpoint. He said, “Scientists try to explain the universe scientifically, but after all, the probability of life with intelligence appearing on the Earth is 0 (zero) based on scientific calculations… The fact that we human beings have been born on this tiny planet with a perfect environment for us is nothing but a miracle.”
