“Busan Citizens Solidarity against Shincheonji’s New Headquarters Building Construction” (standing committee chair: Rev. Choi Hong-jun, senior pastor of Hosanna Church) held a press conference (photo) on June 25 at Nongshim Hotel in Busan, and announced their opposition to the plan by “Shincheonji Church of Jesus” to build a new headquarters in Busan, because the pseudo-religious heretical group “destroys families and leads antisocial and anti-national activities.” The 12 member organizations of Busan Citizens Solidarity include the Busan Council of Churches (BCC), which has 1,800 member churches in Busan, and the Busan YMCA.

Busan Citizens Solidarity said it has submitted a petition against the new construction with the signatures of 90,000 Busan Christians and members of the general public, to the related government authority.

Currently “Shincheonji” is planning to build its new headquarters building in Yeonsan-dong, on land with an area of 4,300㎡ and with a budget of 30 billion won, and has submitted its application for a construction permit. It is known that the Yeonje-gu District Office has turned down that application for now.
