The Book of Psalms is often called a literary sanctum of the Bible. Specific encounters between God and human beings are on display throughout its 150 chapters. Every bit of human nature is revealed, as God thoroughly observes and cares for human needs. In his “Commentary on Psalms,” John Calvin referred to the Psalter as “An Anatomy of All the Parts of the Soul.” What would a rock star and a theologian say about the Psalms? Bono (56) of U2 and Eugene Peterson (84), theologian of spirituality and the author of “The Message: The Bible in Contemporary Language,” say that the Book of Psalms is filled with honest and powerful words.
A conversation between these two persons can be watched on the Fuller Studio programs (YouTube capture above), premiered on April 26 (local time) by Fuller Theological Seminary in California, USA. The 21-minute video clip tells how the two met and have built up their friendship, as well as sharing their intriguing conversation at Rev. Peterson’s home in Montana.
