Mission life: THE KUKMIN DAILY

“Our fight will continue until Shincheonji disappears”

2016-05-13 17:11

On May 12, the Countermeasures Committee Against Pseudo- and Heretical Religious Groups, consisting of members from eight denominations of the Korean church, announced a public statement and declared, “Shincheonji (“Shincheonji Church of Jesus the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony") is a heretical, pseudo-religious group. We’ll fight the good struggle of the truth against it until it is demolished.” The eight church denominations are the Presbyterian Church of Korea (PCK) Hapdong, PCK Tonghap, PCK Baeseok, PCK Kosin, PCK Hapshin, the Korean Methodist Church, the Korea Baptist Convention, and the Korea Evangelical Holiness Church.

In the statement, announced at the Methodist Center in Jongno-gu, Seoul, the Committee said, “Shincheonji denies God’s revelation through the Bible. It mocks God and distorts the Bible by claiming the possibility of direct revelation through the leader himself (Lee Man-hui). This clearly proves that it is a heretical and pseudo-religious group… Shincheonji targets Christian believers and tries to permeate the existing churches. It is an anti-human, anti-social group that shakes up the targeted churches and destroys happy families.”

The Committee leaders said, “Until the day this heretical, pseudo-religious group disappears, we’ll be the foundation of the good fight for the truth. We urge all Korean church believers not to be dazzled by the activities of Shincheonji or any other heretical, fake-religious group, but to participate proactively in the efforts to eradicate them… We plan to make available the research materials on such new groups, and to distribute them for the benefit of local churches.”
