According to a Chongshin University source on May 15, members of “Shincheonji Church of Jesus the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony" demonstrated in front of the seminary on March 13 (photo). The source said, “Eight Shincheonji members in mourning clothes demonstrated in front of the main gate of Chongshin University in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, holding signs that read ‘Seminaries are dead.’ It looks like the Shincheonji protest will continue, as it has submitted a notice of assembly with a period of one month.” The source added, “Shincheonji may have been disturbed by a Chongshin professor’s criticism of the group. A Chongshin student is doing a counter-demonstration with the sign ‘Depart from Shincheonji, Come to Jesus.’”

Lee Byeong-dae, executive director of the Korean Association of Church Communication, said, “This kind of behavior only reveals the group’s actual heretical character. It is possible that they will use the signatures they have collected during their campaigns denouncing the Korean church, when they request legislation against religious discrimination. We need to prepare proactively for such a situation.”
