Mission life: THE KUKMIN DAILY

“A church grows as much as its leader… The pastor must be first to change”

Spiritual leaders of Asian churches were gathered on August 22 around the topic of evangelizing Asia. Specifically, they confirmed their churches’ resolve to train local persons as missionaries, and to strengthen short-term mission and business mission through collaboration among local churches. Their conversation took place at the 2016 Asia Leaders Summit, held at Kwanglim Church (photo).

From Korea, the Revs. Lee Young-hoon (Yoido Full Gospel Church), Kim Jung-seok (Kwanglim Church), Chin Jae-hyuk (Global Mission Church), Han Gi-chae (Central Holiness Church), and other pastors participated in the summit. Some 20 pastors from Malaysia, Singapore, India, Indonesia, Japan, and 5 other foreign countries joined the meeting. Now in its fourth year, ALS was first proposed by Rev. Lee to pastors of mega churches in Asia at a mission conference in 2013.

Rev. Lee shared seven areas of spirituality needed by church leaders for church growth (the Cross, the Word, being filled with the Holy Spirit, faith of absolute positivity, service and sharing, being “little Jesus,” and mission), and said, “For the evangelization of Asia, let us pastors be the first ones to change, grow, and mature.”

The 400 participants acknowledged that the Asian churches need to take the lead in evangelizing Asia. On August 23, there will be seminar and discussion sessions for the summit members only, at Millennium Seoul Hilton Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul.
