After 8 Days PCK Tonghap Shifts Stance, Cancels Special Pardon of 4 Heretics

2016-09-21 17:41

On September 20, the board members of the Presbyterian Church of Korea (PCK Tonghap; Rev. Chae Young-nam, moderator) held an urgent meeting with senior pastors of the denomination, and decided to cancel the September 12 decision to grant a special pardon to four persons previously declared heretics. Accordingly, the designation of “heretic” applied to Kim Gi-dong (Seoul Seongrak Church), Lee Myeong-beom (Rhema Mission Society), Byeon Seung-wu (Keunmideum Church), and the late Park Yun-shik (Myeonggang Jeil Church) will remain in effect.

PCK Tonghap plans to announce its position on the issue soon.

The photo was taken on September 20 at the Korean Christian Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, where Prof. So Gi-cheon of Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary (second from right) and other professors from 25 theological seminaries throughout the country held a press conference urging the PCK Tonghap board to cancel the special pardon.
