Good Springs Church’s “Be One”: a Space for Solitary Contemplation in Company With God

2017-01-18 16:51

Located in the first-floor basement of Good Springs Church (Rev. Yu Gyeong-seon) in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, is a special place called “Be One” (photo). Visiting this small space (39.7㎡) on the afternoon of January 16, I immediately felt its aura of seclusion. On every side were mahogany-colored bookcases filled with neatly arranged books on deep topics including religion, philosophy and the humanities. In the center was a mahogany-colored table topped with three lighted lamps.

Be One is a meditation space created by Good Springs Church in the summer of 2015 with the concept of “shelter for the soul.” Those who come here can read books or meditate on the Word in company with God. It is also a good place for silent prayer.

“People today live in a busy, noisy environment. Christians are no exception,” said Rev. Yu Gyeong-seon, the pastor of Good Springs Church. “When you turn off the noise in your soul and meditate in fellowship with God, you will hear the Spirit’s detailed voice.”
