Churches throughout Korea held Easter worship services proclaiming to the world the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In the spirit of Easter, Christians prayed that the nation will overcome corruption and stand in righteousness, and that the Korean peninsula will overflow with peace. Sharing with their neighbors, they followed the way shown by Christ.

*Rev. Kang Cheol-ho baptizes two members of Saeteo Church, a community for North Korean defectors in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, during their Easter Day worship on April 16.

*1,119 bags of “rice of love” are stacked in front of Eunpyeong Jeil Church in Seoul, for distribution to neighbors in hardship.

The “2017 Korean Church United Easter Worship Service” (top photo), organized by a preparatory committee representing more than 60 Korean church denominations, took place at Myungsung Church in Gangdong-gu, Seoul. In his message titled “Jesus walks with those facing despair,” Rev. Lee Young-hoon of Yoido Full Gospel Church spoke words of encouragement: “Just as the two disciples, walking on the road to Emmaus after Jesus’ death on the cross, gained new strength and witnessed to the risen Lord, let us take our dreams and hopes and go forth into tomorrow.”



The National Council of Churches in Korea (NCCK) joined the Sewol Ferry Disaster 416 Family Council in another United Easter Worship Service, which was held in the outdoor theater of Hwarang Recreation Park in Ansan city, Gyeonggi-do (photo above).
