Ahead of the North Korea-US Summit, a gathering of unification mission experts has inaugurated a single council, and is seeking directions and strategies for the unification mission of the Korean church.

The Mission United Korea Conference preparatory committee (co-representatives: Rev. Cho Yo-seb, Fr. Ben Torrey) opened its “Mission United Korea Conference 2018” on May 31 at JS Hotel Bundang in Seongnam city, Gyeonggi-do. Sixty some Korea-based unification mission experts are participating in the event, which was prepared jointly by six organizations including the Korea World Missions Association (KWMA), Pastors’ Association for North Korea Missions, Christian Council of North Korea, and Loving Concern International.

The conference is organized around the theme “Unification mission vision, following the N-S Summit and changes on the Korean peninsula,” and consists of lectures on the present situation of the Korean peninsula and strategies for unification mission, along with small-group discussions on “politics, history, society & culture,” “spirituality & prayer,” “North Korea mission” and other topics.

The participants have inaugurated the “Mission United Korea Council,” to share directions and visions for unification mission with the Korean churches, and to search for comprehensive strategies. The new council is the actualization of a concept adopted by the “Kona unification forum” in Hawaii, USA, last August. During the current conference, which continues till June 1, Peace Corea Director Heo Mun-yeong, former Vice Minister of Unification Yang Yeong-shik, and other participating experts are presenting proposals for the establishment of peace on the Korean peninsula.
