On August 12, Rev. Hong Jae-cheol, Executive Director of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK), abruptly announced his resignation in the name of renewal, change, and unity of the Korean church. Since he has been pointed out as the one responsible for the division between CCK and the Communion of Churches in Korea (CCIK), it is now worth watching to see whether his resignation will become an opportunity for the Korean church to overcome its division and move forward to unity.
