“Do you repent of your sins, resolve to obey the Word of God, and promise not to sin?” “Amen! Amen! Amen!”
On January 7, the 500th on-base baptism ceremony and commemorative service (photo) was held in Yeonmudae gym at the Nonsan Army Training Center in South Chungcheong-do. The thunderous unison shout of the approximately 4,500 new soldiers filled the gym.
The baptism was hosted by the Military Evangelical Association of Korea (MEAK; board chair: Rev. Gwak Sun-hee) and the Army Training Center Yeonmudae Soldiers Church (chaplain: Rev. Kim Taek-jo), and was organized by Open Mission Society (representative: Elder Choi Su-yong).
Since the first baptism of 3,000 soldiers at the Army Training Center in August 1992, a total 1.53 million soldiers had received baptism on their base as of the end of 2016.
