Korean Churches Unite as One to “Turn Sewol Pain into Hope”

2014-05-08 15:36

Key denominations and church organizations including Presbyterian Church of Korea Hapdong and PCK Tonghap met on May 7 at the headquarters of the Korean Methodist Church on Sejongdae-ro in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and made the decision to inaugurate the (tentatively named) “Korea Church Coalition for Healing and Recovery from the Sewol Disaster.” The great majority of Korean church denominations and organizations are of one accord on the need to share the pain caused by the Sewol disaster and to help heal that pain. It is expected that the launching of the coalition also will contribute toward the unity of the divided Korean church. The Korea Coalition will carry out a variety of ministries including joint prayer meetings and fund raising, healing ministry, and the publishing of common prayers and statements.
